Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

CERAMIC COATING

In short, a Ceramic Coating adds additional protection to your car’s exterior and helps keep it looking like-new with comparatively minimal maintenance. The coating achieves this result by making your vehicle more resilient and easier to clean.
The thickness of the clear coat averages around 50 microns. A single layer of ILUMEY Top Coat is about 2 microns.
Coating are carefully applied by hand as a liquid one panel at a time covering the exterior surfaces. The paintwork is firstly decontaminated and prepared to ensure the coating achieves a good bond to the paintwork.
The number of coating layers on top of the clear coat (Top Coat, Middle Top Coat, and Middle Coat) can be determined from the reading of a coating thickness gauge.
Yes, waxing would not be necessary once the car is coated. In general, coating is superior than waxing in terms of durability and strength.
If compared within ILUMEY Coating product range, more layers offer more durability and stronger bonding. In general, the number of layers is not the sole determination of the quality of the coating.
At ILUMEY, while we do not impose scheduled maintenance on customers in order to keep the warranty, we strongly encourage you to send your car back for an all-round service, ideally once in 6 months.
No, it will not be totally scratch-proof after coating. However, at a hardness of 9H, ILUMEY Coating does help the paint to withstand light scratches or swirl marks because it adds toughness to the lacquer. And depending on the number of layers, the added thickness also functions as a sacrificial barrier from external physical damage.
The lifespan of the Top Coat will last about 2-3 years, while the rest of the layers are quite permanent. Throughout its lifespan, a gradual thinning of the Top Coat can be observed mainly when the hydrophobic effect and gloss have lessened. And then, it will be time for a Top Coat renewal.

PAINT PROTECTION FILM (PPF)

Paint Protection Film is quoted by panels of the car model, and by square feet and roll size.
Depending on how much of your vehicle you are protecting, about between 3 and 4 days. Day 1 for the cleaning and preparation process and cutting of the kit. Day 2/3 for installation and 24 hours for the installation to cure and for the vehicle to be inspected.
Paint Protection Film is 8 mils thick.
(1 mil = 25.4 mircon)
Paint Protection Film uses a special polymer in its clear coat that flows even though it is cured. This allows the clear coat to gain its natural level again after being exposed to potential impact or scratch damage.
While you can wax the Paint Protection Film, be sure the product you are using doesn’t contain Naphtha or Kerosene in concentrations over 5%, and avoid waxes that contain dyes. For best results, we recommend using our XPEL Flawless Finish Paint Protection Film Sealant. This product has been specially formulated for use with polyurethane paint protection films to provide the maximum protection and gloss, while containing no ingredients that would cause discoloration over time.
Yes. The process is the same as with regular paint – wet the surface with a lubricant such as soapy water and then gently rub the surface with the clay bar.
No. Because of the impact absorbency of Paint Protection Film, the refractive index of the film is too different from that of the windscreen. It would cause unwanted distortion and hence making the car unsafe to drive.
The final Paint protection film (PPF) finish will only be as good as the paint work on your vehicle. For the best result application is recommend at new or after any paint work has been fully remedied.
We strongly encourage you to send your car back for a service to maintain the condition of the film, ideally once in 6 months.
No, with the car wrapped, normal car wash shampoo would work just fine. We also have our Car Shampoo available for purchase at store.

WINDOW TINT

Window film is a thin, multi-layered polyester material that incorporates the many different layers to control different properties, including Ultra-Violet (UV) light, heat, glare, and privacy. Window film comes in a variety of performance levels and shades.
Installation time typically ranges from 1 to 2 hours, depending on the type of vehicle and the number of windows being tinted.
To begin the installation process, your windows are thoroughly cleaned to ensure that even the smallest pieces of dirt are removed. Next, a piece of film is cut to the size of your window, and a release liner is removed, exposing the film’s adhesive. An application solution is sprayed onto your window, and the film is then carefully placed on the glass. Using a squeegee, the application solution is removed from between the glass and the film. Lastly, we will trim the edges of your film to ensure the perfect fit for your windows.
Yes. The same sun that brightens a room’s interior can be detrimental to fabrics, furnishings, artwork, and rugs. Ultraviolet rays are the main cause of both fade and deterioration. Window films can screen out 99% of the damaging UV rays that can fade richly colored furniture, tapestries, and artwork. Heat and light also play a part in fading, but using window film to block nearly 100% of UV rays will increase the life of your personal property for years.
The black dots or patterns at the edge of some windows are made from a Teflon material that is applied at the factory. Their purpose is to hide trim lines and edges on different vehicles. This Teflon material, although purely cosmetic, can make it difficult to apply window tint which is designed to go directly onto the glass. There are situations where it might prevent window tint from sticking, such as if the dot patterns or lines are too thick at the top of the window. Depending on the thickness of the material, it can cause a lighter or different look in the area that the dots and lines lie. However, this poses no risk of peeling.
Tint goes on the inside. At first, the film will be laid on the outside of the window and then cut to fit the right shape. Next, the pieces of film are placed on a large piece of glass and trimmed. Then, it will be installed to the inside of the windows.
If windows are rolled down too soon after the installation, the tint can peel off. If this happens, we can redo windows at a low cost or free depending on circumstances. To avoid this, we recommend keeping your windows up for at least 2 to 4 days.
Yes! Tinted windows can reduce the amount of air conditioning needed to cool the car in summer and the amount of heat needed in winter. This saves energy, which saves you money, and that’s always a good thing.
If you notice that your window tinting is turning purple and bubbling, this can occur from exposure to UV rays from the sun and are a result of the film’s adhesive failing to work properly. To avoid this, you can purchase a brand name window tint like 3M. We offer several different options that utilize a high-temperature adhesive system and reject up to 99% of UV rays, protecting against fading and bubbling.
Many confuse scratches or streaks in window tint as a defect of the film. However, this can be caused by a vehicle’s weather stripping. There is a fuzzy, felt-like material that lines the stripping around your windows. This traps particles when you roll windows up and down. Some cars have both sides lined, while others only have the exterior. When windows are rolled up or down, the dirt or other particles can cause the film to scratch.

WINDSCREEN PROTECTION FILM

A windshield is an essential part of your vehicle. Along with providing visibility and protection against dust and stray particles, the windscreen also imparts structural integrity to your car in the event of a crash. In case of an accident, a fully intact, unblemished windshield can transfer the impact force from the front end of the vehicle directly to the chassis, without affecting the interior. A windscreen with a crack in it, especially a huge one, will not offer much in the protection department, neither for you nor the passengers. Moreover, an utterly unmarred windshield can also prevent your car’s roof from caving in during a rollover.
It is, quite possibly, the biggest dilemma car owners face when confronted by a damaged windshield. Well, most minor chips, at the most two, with a diameter of not more than 40mm can be easily repaired. Anything beyond it warrants windshield replacement. Also, a chip that sits directly on the driver’s line-of-sight qualifies for an auto glass replacement.
• For repair nothing to concern.
• For replacement, you have to avoid
• 3 days don't wash your car. (raining is ok)
• 3 days don't do tint film.
• 1 day drive slow
• The tape have to remove tomorrow morning.
Normally tooks only two to three hours to do the windscreen replacement.
The price of replace car windscreen is depends on the car model and the windscreen original or not. If your car windscreen is covered by insurance you no need to worry how much to replace your windscreen.
OEM, or Original Equipment Manufacturer windshield glass refers to the windscreen glass that is manufactured by the same company as your original glass. In short, you will be replacing your windshield with its exact replica if you choose to go with an OEM glass. Aftermarket glass, on the other hand, is manufactured by an entirely different manufacturer. Mostly, aftermarket glasses tend to cost you less during windshield replacement. Aftermarket windshields, apart from costing you less, can also offer you a lot of choices during windshield replacement. However, what gets compromised in the process is the quality of the glass. OEM windshields also are of high quality, and fit better on your car, even though it might cost you more. But safety should never have a price tag!
